The piece

The archived reference documentation describes this as a Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller Executive Office Group open-back desk, circa 1943, in walnut with brass and leatherette, approximately 66.25″ W × 36″ D × 29.5″ H. Herman Miller dates Rohde's Executive Office Group design to 1942. Buyers should independently verify the exact production date, dimensions, completeness and condition.

Why the configuration matters

Unlike a conventional executive desk with a closed modesty panel, this design can be approached from both sides. Opposing pull-out work surfaces allow two people to sit face-to-face with usable leg room — historically useful for executive/secretary or visitor work, and still unusually functional today.

Offers & reservation

Reasonable offers are welcome at any time. If an offer is accepted, a $250 good-faith deposit reserves the desk at the agreed price and pauses the descending-price sale. The working terms provide 48 hours to arrange inspection and normally 72 hours to inspect, unless otherwise agreed. If the buyer accepts, the deposit is credited to the purchase price. If the buyer genuinely inspects and declines, the deposit is refunded and the desk returns to market.

No payment is taken through this website. Contact the seller first to confirm that the desk remains available and to receive final reservation instructions.

As-is private sale

The desk is offered as-is. Interested buyers should independently verify attribution, production date, dimensions, completeness and condition during inspection. Seller may change or end the sale before accepting a deposit.
